A new era of the luxury convertibles is born with the delivery of the Dawn model of the British house Rolls Royce. A sensual car to take a ride by Saint Tropez or Capri, Monaco or Lake Como or wherever.
Dawn means dawn. Rolls Royce wants to awaken the senses to new realities, like the dawn gives way to new possibilities. Like the actress and model Eleanor Thornton, inspiration of the Spirit of Ecstasy (emblem which crowns each car of the firm), the new Rolls-Royce Dawn aspires to become a source of life and excitement to its owners.
The big news is that Dawn is the only super luxury convertible vehicle with four-seats in the world (all the others have two).
Dawn already existed and its concept was anchored in the maxim “the night is always darkest before dawn”, coined by the preacher of the Restoration Thomas Fuller. This was the feeling in 1952 when the world emerged from a period of economic austerity after the long war. That year the Rolls-Royce Silver Dawn convertible was born, which served as a muse for the designers of the new Rolls-Royce Dawn, which was delivered to its first customer, the Colonel WA Phillips in Canada.
New Dawn is a fresh and contemporary interpretation of what should a four-seat luxury convertible vehicle be in 2015: unique, refined and very social. Like the Silver Dawn of 1952, the new Rolls-Royce Dawn is distinguished from other similar vehicles by an 80% of unique body panels. The hood has received particular attention to provide a spectral silence. In 20 seconds and at a cruising speed of 50 kilometers per hour, the noise is imperceptible. It is the quietest convertible so far. “At Rolls-Royce, we can boast of being the creators of stylish vehicles that, as well, serve as a social space,” says Giles Taylor, director of design. “The idea was to create a vehicle as Dawn that does not compromise the comfort and luxury of four adult passengers wishing to travel together in the maximum indicator of style.”
“The Rolls-Royce Dawn has a contemporary approach of the “casino” lifestyle. Perhaps its outward appearance of gentleman is designed to attract people who enjoy of freedom and sophistication”, says Giles Taylor, Director of Design.
The floor is an excellent work of modern crafts. It is coated with a paneling of open pores of Canadel which resembles the horseshoe shape of the rear cabin. The wood of the floor is selected by the customer to suit his personal taste.
It also has a Bespoke Rolls-Royce audio system that has been calibrated for the unique configuration of the Rolls-Royce Dawn. Its 16 individually tuned speakers with theater and study options provide a “greater and live” sensation.
When roaring, it does it with the motor drive twin-turbo V12 of 6.6-liter, which is the heart and soul of any Rolls-Royce vehicle. With a power output of 420 kW or 563 bhp at 5250 rpm, the Rolls-Royce Dawn driving experience is extraordinary.
If it comes to managing the board, technology makes it much easier. For example, the characters for data navigation or communication searches can be done by dragging your finger across the surface. An Instant Action button on the steering wheel allows the access to the vehicle functions with voice commands. Just push the button and say, “Navigate to St. Tropez” and the satellite navigation system calculates the fastest possible route.
